Career day expands students horizons

Career+day+expands+students+horizons

20130328_122043From Advertising to Viticulture, Career Day allowed students to walk in the shoes of dozens of adults, if only for a day.

Career Day took place on March 23. Students attended two, hour-long presentations by members of a variety of fields. Coordinated by the College and Career Center, there were 37 careers to choose from, giving students many options.

“I really enjoyed [Career Day],” senior Meredith Phillips said. “Sophomore year I didn’t do the online sign up thing so I got stuck in lectures I had no interest in, so I wasn’t looking forward to this year’s.”

The presentations gave many students an idea of what they wanted to pursue after high school or college.

“I chose my speakers based on what would be the least boring and ended up considering doing both in the future,” Phillips said.

Though it did not cover all of the careers in the world, Career Day provided students with a better understanding of a broad spectrum of careers.
