Juniors pursue assasin tradition

The struggle to stay alive has gripped the junior class with fear. The traditional junior game of Assassin, organized by junior Tiger Leet, has accumulated 128 participants since its commencement on Monday, Sept. 2.

In this game, players are each given theasassin color task of “assassinating” another player, otherwise known as shooting them with a water gun, nerf gun, or simply dumping water on them. As players get “assassinated,” they are taken out until a sole winner remains.

“It’s fun and interesting to see who survives the longest,” junior Connick Shields said. “I think [the game] will bond us in a certain way, but also make us more competitive.”

Junior Becca Havian said that some of the players take the game super seriously, making it intense at times.

“It’s fun to be in a constant state of panic,” Havian said. “I think I must look schizophrenic, or like a scared Chihuahua, twisting my head around, constantly in fear of my assassin.”

Havian said that though she has already encountered her assassin, by outrunning him and hiding in English teacher Beth Black’s classroom, she has managed to stay in the game.

“I hope to come out as the victor and make my district proud,” Havian said.

Leet chose to host this game instead of playing because he thought he could make it more horror-filled and dramatic than previous hosts did.

“[On a certain day] random players will be receiving phone calls during the night saying that they have 24 hours to kill their target or else horrible things will ensue,” Leet said. “I just hope everyone has a good time and that they fear me if they know what’s good for them.”
