“One of the most interesting and fun classes I have taken in the last four years is Acting 1. To be completely honest, I enrolled in the class just to fulfill my art requirement. However, by the end of the class, I had learned more about myself than I had in the other six classes I took that year. Acting challenged me, as I had to go out of my comfort zone and try activities I would not typically do. Sometimes the classes we have no expectations for end up being the most memorable and exciting. Try signing up for classes you would not normally take as they will not only give you a break from the monotony of other classes but also help you explore other interests!”

“As the oldest child in my family, I am also the resident guinea pig. Whenever it came time for course selection, I would fill my schedule with classes that sounded interesting theoretically, but I had no idea what to expect realistically. I always envied my classmates, who got the inside scoop from their older siblings. Unfortunately, I could not magically create an older sister for myself, so I stumbled blindly ahead. That is, until one day towards the end of my sophomore year, my neighbor, then a junior, came up to me and started asking me about what classes I was planning on taking the next year. I was very unsure about whether to take Honors English or English 5-6, APUSH or regular US History (as I’m sure many of you are), so I began asking her questions. Her answers gave me great insight, and my junior year classes turned out to be some of my favorites. “With classes seemingly more crowded every year, many people are stuck taking classes they did not sign up for, or that they do not want to take. This was Journalism for me junior year. I love science, and I wanted to take either biotechnology or psychology as an elective alongside Honors Physics. However, the classes filled up and I was stuck with my second alternative: journalism. However, it turned out to be one of my favorite classes, and it has entirely reshaped who I am. Just because you end up with a class does not mean you will absolutely dread it the whole year. Roll with the punches and make the most of what you have.”
